What a Team!!!!

Well what a fantastic day we had on Wednesday. To start the weather behaved and the sun shone. And so did Team West Malling!

First off Shooters Hill got blown away when we won the first 4 games in the morning semi-final. Kelly Hanson (5& 4) and Caroline Harrison (6 & 5) had comfortable wins whilst Debbie Conder (2 up) and Lindsay Hart (1up) sealed the win for us. Rena Jones, Julie Harris and Carol Eldridge were all making good progress when they were called off the course as the match was all ready won.

Meanwhile Hever also won the first 4 games against Sidcup making them our opponents in the Final.

In the afternoon we made 2 changes bringing in Pat Donovan and Stella Pitt for Rena and Carol and Pat immediately made her mark beating her opponent 7 & 5 but Kelly Hanson lost her match making the match score 1-1. Debbie Conder and Caroline Harrison then made it 2 out of 2 when they both won 3 & 2 giving us a 3-1 lead but back came Hever with wins against Lindsay Hart and Stella making it 3 all and it was all down to Julie's match. It was Sundridge Park all over again and once again Julie held her nerve coming back from 2 down to win the last two holes to take her match up the 19th. And whilst her opponent seemed to lose her nerve Julie maintained her focus puting her second shot on the green and eventually finishing with a par, winning her match and sealing our win.

Team West Malling were at long last Kent Pearson Trophy winners!!!

Ladies you were fabulous on the day just like you have been all season and a big thank you also goes to our great team of caddies, Jane, Kev, Chris, Viv, Debbie T, Helen V, Helen C and Judith. It's was a superb team performance and you thoroughly deserve it after your fantastic performances this year.

Thanks also to our supporters on the day and a BIG thank you to Brenda for all the organising she did and her constant support.

Our work is however not done as we now go forward to represent Kent in the Four Counties Final at Clandon Regis on Thursday 19th July 2012 where we will take on the winners from Hertfordshire, Middlesex and Surrey.

Please make sure you all have this date in your diary (players and caddies) and that you watch the blog for more information. The format will be the same as North Foreland so semi-final in morning and final in the afternoon. If anyone is not available for this day could you let me know asap.
