Guidelines for Players and Caddies

North Foreland are organising Ball Spotters and Marshalls who will walk around with matches.

All players and caddies should take note of the following rules:

In the event that a refereeing decision is required the following guidelines should be followed:

• All players should carry the latest copy of the R & A Rules
• Local rules can be found on the back of the scorecard. If a ball spotter is available she can give advice on local rules but cannot make any decisions.
• Should you need a referee please stand back and allow the match(es) behind to play through.  Approach a marshal and state that you need refereeing assistance. Marshals will have either Walkie Talkies or mobile phones and will contact the referee Marilyn Brown on your behalf.
• Caddies can take a mobile phone with them (switched off) which can ONLY be used in an emergency or if the referee is required and a marshal is not available.

Caddie Rules
Caddies MUST NOT go on the green.
A Caddie cannot give any advice to players on the green.
Caddies can rake bunkers and help speed up play by walking ahead to the next tee and walking ahead to help find lost balls.
Caddies can keep score but can only discuss scores with their own player. It is up to players to agree the outcome of each hole at the end of each hole.
Caddies can give advice to their own player (but not whilst she is on the green) but must NOT help with any decisions or interfere with the opposing player or her caddie in any way.

It is the PLAYERS responsibility to ensure that their caddie follows these rules. If they fail to comply the caddie will be asked to leave the course and no substitute will be allowed.
