The Nightmare goes on.....

As some of you may know the courses at West Malling were closed this morning due to the rain although they had opened by lunchtime. It is now raining again.
The club have suggested that we switch Thursdays match to the Hurricane course as the Spitfire greens are saturated and they believe there will be too many temporary greens for our match to go ahead.
The Chart Hills captain has agreed to play the match on the Hurricane if necessary and I am currently waiting a call back from the Pearson Organiser Chris Corke to confirm whether it is Ok to switch courses and I will let you know the outcome as soon as possible.
We will of course play the match on the Spitfire if it is playable.

A note to all those ladies who like to play a few holes before a match - please make sure you know where the match is being played before going out on the course. You must not practice on the same course the match is to be played.

  2. Rule 7-1 (a) Match play (page 60 Rules of Golf 2008 -2011)
On any day of a match play competition, a player may practise on the competition course before a round.
I don't know if there is a Pearson rule which overides this?

  3. Re Kelly's posting about Rule 7-1. Just check what it says on page 61 regarding Rule 33-1 as it mentions match play, although it refers to Rule 7-1b in the text.
Good luck if you manage to play it.

  4. We have now received Chris Corke's permission to play on the Hurricane course if we need to. Obviously we won't know which course it will be until Thursday and will play the Spitfire if at all possible but we can only have a maximum 6 temporary greens. I know there are some concerns about playing on the Hurricane but time is tight and I am not sure when we would be able to play a re-arranged match.
