What a Team!!!

A fantastic win today against Sundridge Park sees Team West Malling reach the Kent Pearson finals for the second time in three years.

The 5 - 2 win saw us level the scores from the away match to 7 - 7 but we won through on the day when we finished with 22 points to Sundridge Park's 19.

But what a tense day it turned out to be with the result being in doubt until the very last putt.

Kelly Hanson put up a determined fight against Sundridge Parks lead player but lost out 2 & 1 in a very tight game. Debbie Conder reversed this score to win 2 & 1 levelling the match at 1- 1.

Lindsay Hart carried on where she left off at Sundridge Park winning 3 & 2 but Caroline Harrison found her opponent in good form and lost out 4 & 2 making the match score 2 - 2. This meant West Malling had to win all the remaining matches and also make up a deficit of 7 points.

And so we did!! First Rena Jones won 3 & 1 then Carol Eldridge blew her opponent away with a 6 & 4 win. Match score now 4 - 2 and it was all down to Julie Harris. When Julie went through 17 one down it looked like it was all over but a super effort saw Julie win the 18th and eventually win the match on the 20th hole giving us a 5 - 2 win. It then all came down to the points and we just edged it.

The atmosphere on the course was absolutely amazing and the team really showed they are a force to be reckoned with! I dont think Sundridge Park expected to lose but it was a great match played by two very competitive teams. And we must not forget the support on the day which was fantastic.

Ladies you were awesome today and I was so proud to be with you on such a great day.

We now turn our attention to Finals Day which is just two weeks away I.e. Wednesday 13th June at North Foreland. Please watch the blog for more information.
