Skipper (The Teddy Bear) reports from Latvia

Hello Everyone, I am having a lovely time in Latvia with Julie. She was so pleased to win me in the RNLI competition and she has promised to take me with her to all the exotic places that she visits! I am behaving myself and did a very good job caddying for her here in Latvia. Not that she needs the practice as her golf looks pretty good to me! Although what do I know, I am only a Teddy Bear. AWAY DAY AT HEVER!

It has been so long since I put anything on this blog and I'm not sure I remember how to do it! However here goes!
We have been wanting to have an away day to celebrate the Pearson Team's success this last year but also to anticipate the coming season and to remind you all that, although we want to stay in the competition for as long as possible, that is because we are having FUN!

So in pursuit of FUN we have arranged a day out at Hever Castle Golf Club on Tuesday, 20th September.
The day will start with coffee and bacon rolls or veggie alternative. Tee off at approx 1030 in fours on the Championship Kings and Queens Course will be followed by lunch of lasagne or veggie lasagne, salad and garlic bread. (It was very good last time!)
As we all have County Cards (haven't we?) I have asked HEVER to factor that in to the cost which comes out at £31.00 pp

There are 20 places (actually 18 as Helen and I are going!) so please add a post to say you will come.

There will be prizes!

Gutted!!

A 6 - 1 defeat at Langley Park yesterday sadly ended our involvement in this years Pearson Trophy competition. Although the score was level at 7 all over the two matches Langley Park managed to score one more point to take them through to the semi- finals. Our matches against Langely Park have always been close and this year it was our turn to have the disappointment of losing by the narrowest margin possible.

Ladies I know you are absolutely gutted at this result and I am so disappointed that you will not be able to experience Finals Day again this year. You must however remember what you have achieved this year and I am so proud of everything you have done. Getting through to the third round was a fantastic achievement in itself and being undefeated in the process was magnificent especially as many of you have cut your handicaps in the meantime. We have also found some great new ladies to our squad which will ensure that West Malling continues to be a force to be reckoned with in this competition in the years to come.

It has been an absolute pleasure to be with you all this year and hope that your golf will go from strength to strength during the summer months. Thanks also to Brenda for being with me all the way, a true partnership!!

FANTASTIC!!

A superb team performance yesterday saw Team West Malling beat Langley Park 6 - 1.

In very windy conditions we came out top in all but one game which Lindsay Hart lost on the 18th giving Langley Park just one point from the match.

Fantastic performances from Julie Harris (6 & 4), Debbie Conder (5 & 3), Caroline Harrison & Helen Venis (both 3 & 2)were backed up with gutsy wins from Sue Stickland (2 up) and Debbie Tennant (1 up) giving us a total of 20 points and a morale boosting win to take to Langley Park on Friday.

Ladies you were awesome today - you over came the extremely windy conditions to take a huge step forward to Finals Day in June. Remember however that the job is still only half done and you will all need to be at your best again on Friday to overcome a very determined Langley Park.

Well done to you all and see you on Friday. 10am for 10.30am start.

Tappin Trophy Match win for West Malling

I know this is Helen and Brenda's blog for the Pearson but I am going to post a Tappin Trophy report anyway!!
Brenda, Stella and Julie won at home against Nizels today.
This is the second consecutive year that Nizels have been beaten at West Malling in this competition (it's becoming a bit of a habit!).
Stella's opponent had 47 points at Knole Park's Open competition yesterday, so Stella's win was wonderful!
The West Malling Tappin team meet Sene Valley or Ashford in the next round.

Practice Round at Langley Park

After much deliberation we have settled on Thursday 12th May for a practice round at Langley Park. Their calendar of events as ours is very busy but this seems to be the date most can make. If we can get eight to play we will play two fourballs and pay for two using County Cards (£25 each). Debbie C and Caroline are playing at the weekend. Tee off time will be at 11am.
