Parkwood Matches Confirmed

The dates/times for these matches have now been confirmed.

Friday 13th April at West Malling meeting at 12noon for a 12.30pm start

Monday 23rd April at Parkwood meeting at 11am for a 11.30am start.

As soon as we have details of everyone's availability for these matches we will announce the team for the home match and also confirm the arrangements for the practice rounds.

Parkwood Matches

I thought I would update you with possible dates for our matches against Parkwood. Nothing has been confirmed at the moment but I need to ensure I can field a team before agreeing the dates.

Away Match
Parkwood have offered us 3 Mondays for the away match. These are all mondays - 16th, 23rd and 30th. All these dates are difficult but the 23rd seems the best date. I have the following names for this match:

We have also arranged practice rounds at Parkwood on Tuesday 17th April and also Thursday 19th April (both 11.30 start) and priority on this occasion will be given to those ladies who are in contention for the match on the 23rd April. So when confirming your availability for this date please also indicate what day you would like to go to Parkwood for your practice round.

I am sorry that this posting is so involved but if you could let me have your details ASAP it will help me with my negotiations with the Pakwood captain.

Its Parkwood!

I have just had confirmation that it is Parkwood that we face in the next round. We will now get on with arranging the dates for the next round matches and practice round and will let you have the dates as quickly as possible.

Thanks also to everyone who joined us for our Get Together today. I hope you all enjoyed yourselves on another wonderfully warm and sunny day. Well done to Brenda's team who won the match 5 - 4 and a big thank you to my team for all their efforts for no reward!

The Battle of The Captains!

Tomorrows Get Together will be a team event.
We have two teams led by the Pearson Captains Helen & Brenda going head to head in matchplay with the winning team taking the prizes.

Get Together Thursday 29th March 2012

To celebrate Team West Malling winning their Pearson group we have arranged a Get Together for Thursday 29th March and hopefully many of you will be able to join us. We are planning a "fun" matchplay competition starting at 8.30am (to avoid the societies) with PRIZES.
Hopefully we will know by then who we will be playing in the next round and can start planning for these matches.

Still Undefeated!!

A 4 - 3 win at Cherry Lodge maintained Team West Malling's winning streak this year. And what made this win special was that it was achieved with 6 different players to those that played in the home match showing the depth of our squad.
Two evenly matched teams shared just 9 points in a closely contested match with wins for Brenda Wilson, Rena Jones (both 2 & 1),Helen Venis and Sue Gofton (both 1 up) giving us 6 points. Debbie Tennant and Judith Parkhurst both lost up the 19th and Helen Stuart lost on the 18th giving Cherry Lodge just 3 points. This was a big disappointment for the Cherry Lodge Captain who was looking for at least 11 points so that they could finish above Ashford in the group table.
Well done ladies, a great win to maintain our undefeated run and in particular Sue Gofton playing in her very first Pearson match.
We now move on to the knockout rounds of the competition so please watch the Blog as we start to prepare for these matches.

Through to the Next Round!

A 4 - 3 win at Knole Park today sees Team West Malling through to the next round of the Pearson Trophy with a game to spare.

Leading the way this week was Debbie Conder who overcame last weeks disappointment by thrashing her opponent 8 & 7. Debbie Tennant and Carol Eldridge both won 2 & 1 and Rena Jones won on the 18th. Lindsay Hart and Julie Harris both lost on the 18th with Caroline Harrison losing 4 & 2.

A terrific result today ladies. Knole Park is a tricky course especially with their fast greens but their was some excellent performances to get the win meaning we are still undefeated this year.

And on top of the win we were also lucky enough to witness a terrific air display which I feel sure Knole Park had secretly arranged in our honour!!

We still have a final group match to play at Cherry Lodge next week and we will then start planning for the next round.

Once again a fantastic win today and everyone who has been involved in the group matches this year should be very proud.

Still on Track!

Our 5 - 2 win at home to Cherry Lodge maintained Team West Malling's 100% unbeaten run this season but it was not without some anxious moments.

Cherry Lodge fielded a team that had six players with handicaps between 13 and 17 which meant that most of our ladies got quite a few shots. However when Cherry Lodge won the first two matches against Kelly Hanson and Debbie Conder there was some concern that their experienced team could win the day. I shouldn't have worried though as our ladies came good, with wins for Caroline Harrison (4 & 3), Lindsay Hart (1 up), Rena Jones (5 & 4), Julie Harris (6 & 4) and Carol Eldridge (3 & 2) securing a 5 - 2 win.

Well done ladies some terrific performances to secure this win. Caroline came from 3 down to secure her win whilst Lindsay battled to win on the 18th despite feeling unwell. And Rena, Julie and Carol all secured good wins to give us 19 points on the day with 11 points for Cherry Lodge.

We now move onto our last two away matches which both provide their own challenges but I am sure they will be overcome if we continue to show the fighting spirit that has been evident in the last two matches.

Practice Round at Cherry Lodge

The practice round for our upcoming match at Cherry Lodge will be on Tuesday, 13th March, meeting at 1000 to play from 1030

Phew that was Close!!

A win for Carol Eldridge up the 19th ensured Team West Malling got their third win of the season with a 4 - 3 score. And what made Carol's win even more impressive was that she came from 3 down after 8 holes to win showing that a match is never lost until the last putt! Very well done Carol!

In what was a very tense encounter between two well matched teams many games were won or lost by a 2 &1 score! Debbie Conder & Rena Jones both won 2 & 1 whilst Caroline Harrison & Lindsay Hart lost by that score. Julie Harris won 4 & 3 whilst Kelly Hanson lost out to old foe Jenny Spedding 5 & 3. The match was so close that both teams ended up with 9 points!

Well done ladies, a good result from a very close match! I know it was difficult out there today what with the snow break but you all played your part to get the win.

We now turn our attention to Cherry Lodge and we will be confirming the arrangements for a practice round shortly.
