The snow has gone but the course remains closed.
They are hoping to open tomorrow but with some temporary greens.
As you will know Pearson matches can go ahead as long as there are no more than 6 temporary greens so we will have to wait and see how many there are before making a final decision about Thursdays match.

Pearson matches w/c 13th February 2012

The match tomorrow has been cancelled. Knole Park is still covered in snow and is likely to remain closed until possibly Thursday.

The match has been re-arranged for Friday 9th March with a 10am meet for a 10.30am start. If anyone is unavailable on this date please let me know.

I am now looking at Thursdays match against Ashford. As most of you know West Malling is also covered in snow and it is too early to know whether it will have cleared for Thursdays match. I will be checking with the club on a daily basis but the decision to play may have to be left until the last minute.

Skipper's been to South Africa!!

Skipper has been to South Africa with Julie while we have all been enduring the snow!! He sent us this message:
just to let you know that I've just come back from a couple of weeks of golf in South Africa with Julie and Joe. We all had a great time - the golf courses were amazing and I've attached a couple of photos of me enjoying myself at Simola Golf course in Knysna. Can't wait for the next holiday....

Knole Park Away

If you haven't already heard tomorrow's match at Knole Park has been cancelled due to the snow. We now have the task of re-arranging the match which is never an easy one!!

Knole Park are asking if we could play next Tuesday 14th February. Whilst I would not normally want to play two matches in the same week I do think we have a big enough squad to go with this. To help me make a decision could I please ask you all to confirm your availability next week, i.e. are you available for both matches or if you can only play one match which one. If you could let me have this information ASAP that would be very helpful.

I will let you know what is arranged as soon as I can.

I have not yet heard from the Knole Park captain confirming the match but have it in my diary as a 10am meet for a 10.30am start. If this changes I will let you know.

The practice rounds at Knole Park were both played in dreadful weather so lets keep our fingers crossed that we are luckier with the weather on match day!!

Well done to the ladies who played against the vets today, it was very cold and damp, with sleet for the whole round, on this occasion the men won, 5-3

Rena won 4 and 3, Carol won on 18, Judith and Diana halved their matches. Lindsay lost on 18,

Pat D, Sue and Pat W lost, but all these men play well, e.g the man who Pat West played against has a handicap of 15 but today played to a handicap of 8.

Let's hope next time we play them the weather is better, thanks ladies.

On both days we will be aiming to tee off at 10.30 but have to put balls in the chute per Brenda's previous post.
We will need to play in 3 balls and will cover the cost of the 4 extra rounds ( only 8 courtesy rounds allowed) between us.

It is still my intention to play the vets on Tuesday 31st January and am waiting for the vets to let me know how many men they have for the game. I will let you know as soon as I get this info so that I can sort out our team.

Get Together Thursday 19th January 2011

Well I hope you have all survived Christmas and New Year Celebrations and are now thinking once again about golf!!

To get ourselves back into Pearson mode we will be having a FUN Get Together on Thursday 19th January. Fun means that we will NOT be playing matchplay but instead will have some kind of competition with PRIZES!!

I hope you will be able to join me and would ask you to add your name to this post to confirm.

COURTESY ROUND at KNOLE PARK

We have arranged a courtesy round at Knole Park GC on Tuesday, 24th January prior to our match there on February 7th.
Knole Park do not have tee times as such but they have noted that we will be playing and suggest that we could get going between 1030 and 1100. When we arrive we need to put balls in a shoot! ( someone will explain!)
We will play in threeballs and can take twelve players with the usual county card cost shared between all.
Please make a note of the dates and Helen will be in touch with further details.

Two out of Two

A terrific 4 - 3 win at Ashford gave Team West Malling their second win of the season despite having to make two late changes to the team due to the withdrawal of Kelly Hanson & Caroline Harrison.

Carol Eldridge overcame the disappointment of her previous match to demolish her opponent 7 & 6 whilst Debbie Tennant showed her class beating the Ashford Pearson captain 6 & 5. Julie Harris notched up her second win of the season winning 3 & 2 whilst Lindsay Hart responded to the pressure of playing in third spot to win 2 & 1.

Helen Venis found her opponents short game too hot to handle going down 5 & 3 with Stella Pitt (4 & 2)and Rena Jones (2 & 1) also losing out.

A terrific result ladies. Ashford normally do very well in this competition and only last year made Finals Day so to beat them on their own course was a great achievement.

Thanks to Helen & Rena for standing in at the last moment and to Sue, Val and Kelly for their support on the day.

Our next match is in February but depending on the weather we will be planning a Get Together for January and also a courtesy round at Knole Park so please check the BLOG regularly for information.
