Get Together Tuesday 1st November 2011
Sixteen ladies turned out for our second Get Together of this Pearson season and took on a very strong opponent, the course! There were some excellent scores on the day, Julie, Lindsay and Rena all matching the course at all square with Carol Eldridge going one better beating the course by one hole. But the performance of the day was from Christine Pearce who beat the course 3 up. Well done Chris.
Our matches start in just three weeks and today's results show that we have a number of ladies in good form.
Thank you ladies for your continued enthusiasm for the Pearson competition and for turning out despite the pouring rain just before our start time! Everyone enjoyed the format and it is definitely something we will do again.

Yesterday's Get Together
Fourteen ladies turned out for our first Get Together yesterday and it was good to see everyone for our first official practice day. In particular it was good to welcome Marion to her first Pearson event.
Playing matchplay on the Hurricane there were wins for Brenda, Kelly, Lindsay, Judith, Marion, Jean and Carol. Well done to you all.
Items discussed yesterday:
As our first match is not until the end of November we have changed our plans for the next get together on Tuesday 1st November. We will not approach the vets for a game that day but instead will play matchplay against the course (the copper beech format) and hopefully many of you will be able to make that day.
We will approach the vets for a possible match the following week.
We will also be sorting out possible dates for a practice round at Ashford.
Please continue with the Round Robin matches and remember to text me the results. I have put contact details on the blog to make arranging these easier for you.
Once again thanks to all those ladies taking part in yesterday's get together, it was good to see you all.

Get Together Thursday 13th October 2011
Our first Get Together is on Thursday 13th October 2011 at 9am.
Our plans for the day are slightly hampered by the fact that there is a big vets match on the Spitfire course on the same day starting at 7.45am. It would therefore seem sensible for us to play on the Hurricane on Thursday.
I hope many of you will be able to join us on the day and would ask you to add your name to this post if you are attending. If you have also arranged to play a round robin match on the day can you also add this as well.
Looking forward to seeing you on Thursday.

Tappin Trophy Runners Up
Congratulations to Pat, Stella and Carol and or course captain Kelly on being runners up in the Tappin Trophy yesterday. It was a very tense match and I thought you all handled it very well.
There was a rules dispute yesterday so I thought I would see how many of us know the correct answer
Rules Question
when taking a penalty drop you measure 2 club lengths from your ball no nearer the hole. Do you
a) use the club you intend to play the shot with
b) use any club in your bag

Hever Away Day 20th September 2011
What a great day we had at Hever yesterday to kick off our 2011/2012 Pearson season.
It was good to see many of last years squad together with a number of new faces as we enjoyed our first get together that had been expertly arranged by Brenda. Arriving for coffee and bacon rolls we then tackled the Kings & Queens course for some betterball before arriving back for a lasagne lunch.
We had some great scores on the day but the runaway winners were Carol Eldridge and "newie" Gill Gambling with Diana Scott and Helen Stuart coming second on countback from Sue Stickland and Rena Jones. Nearest the pins went to Sue and Viv Allen.
After lunch we were able to discuss some of the arrangements for this years competition with the main points being:
Round robin groups to start asap to get ourselves focused on matchplay and to see who is on form going into the new season. Details will be on the BLOG shortly.
The Fixtures meeting is on Monday 3rd October when we will find out who we have to play this year. Matches to start in November and will be on the Spitfire.
Two Get Togethers have been planned:
Thursday 13th October and Tuesday 1st November. We will approach the vets to see if they are available for a match on the latter date.
As many of last years team have cut their handicaps we will need to introduce new ladies to this years competition and everyone is encouraged to let Helen & Brenda know of anyone they think could be an asset to the squad. We have already received a number of names and are following these up to see if we can get more people involved in the round robin practice matches.
Watch the Blog for further information.
I really enjoyed yesterday and hope everyone did too. Thanks to Brenda for arranging the day and also donating the nearest the pin prizes. Thanks to everyone for joining us in particular Belinda and Diana who filled in at the last minute. And here's wishing everyone a successful 2011/2012 season.
